From Fear To Faith (by Sarachelle)
From Fear To Faith Fear is powerful. Confronting it is a daunting process, particularly when you attempt it alone. For a long time, this has been my reality. Feeling something uncomfortable or uncertain and bulldozing through it alone. No need to acknowledge, no time to waste -feelings were a nuisance. Fear, in particular, didn’t even register- I believed I was brave. Yet it was there – all the time. This sinister presence causing me to act in extremes –…
Be Grateful for What You Have (by Tina)
Be Grateful for What You Have I find that this Sunday’s message was a good reminder to look at what you have instead of what you don’t have. I’ll share a personal experience: When I was in Maniwaki, one of my goals was to move to the city and have better things. I would complain in my mind saying: “I want to move, I wish I had this car, I want this, I want that,” instead of looking at everything…
Our Greatest Calling (by Pastor Sandra)
our greatest calling As we took communion this past Sunday, we were reminded that our greatest calling is to be a Christian – to be like Christ. But sometimes, our hearts are not ready for the truth because we want Christ to do things the way we expect and when we want it. The world teaches us to go after our flesh’s desires, but Mark 8:34 reminds us what is needed to follow Yeshua as our Lord and Saviour. It…
True Disciple! (by Gina)
True Disciple! This Sunday, we were privileged to hear from our Graduates of the Discipleship Class of 2020. As I listened to them, share summaries of what they learned and the testimonies of the positive impact this 6 weeks class had on their lives. I teared up with joy, for I know that their lives will never be the same as they continue on this path. …Yeshua said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then…
Watch! Be Ready!(by Pastor Denis)
WATCH! BE READY! Last Sunday, the message was on Blessed Hope. Many people listened to the same message, but we did not all walk away with the same important point. I personally focused more on the aspect of being ready. The Word is quite clear; there will be a second coming. If we are born again, we believe this. But the question is: will we be ready for the return of Yeshua in glory at the end of time? I…
Mystery Revealed! (by Pastor Carole)
Mystery Revealed! Last Sunday, God revealed a mystery to us. How great is that? How often do you receive a message from Him concerning mysteries? He said in His word: “Behold, I tell you a mystery…” ‘’listen very carefully…’’ ‘’We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet’’. This mystery is about our Final Victory. It’s a great message of hope, the greatest hope, the…
The Forgotten (by Alvin)
The forgotten This Sunday’s sermon reminded me how easily some people’s pain could be forgotten or overshadowed by others. We learnt about Job’s wife and how her pain was often ignored, and she was frequently condemned by many because of the choice of expression of her anguish. She was a mother, a wife and a community leader who had everything stripped from her. Job lost everything, and so did she. She lost her kids; she lost her status and even…
Be sober, be watchful (by Vergia)
Be sober, be watchful This week I have been meditating on 1 Peter 5:8. It says: Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. (ASV). In the past, I would think the enemy would use big things to trap us. But to my surprise, I learnt that the things he traps us with are things that we would not even think of. He can be so crafty. For me,…
Spreading the Love (by Sabrena)
Spreading the Love Pastor Vickylextar discussed going deeper with God this Sunday, and the part that stood out to me was that: If I have God’s love, I should be giving more love. The deeper I go with God, the more love I have to give. I often struggled with rude people and/or those people who dismiss me. For example, anger would arise when someone would cut me off in line or while driving. I thought that I was walking…
Choosing the Right Focus (by Gina)
Choosing the right Focus This week’s message reminded me of where I should be focusing as we are coming close to the end of the year. I was reminded of the year’s theme, which was that We are Overcomers – More Than Conquerors! I have indeed overcome so much in 2020, which is great, but the message was a call for me to rise higher and go deeper in my relationship with God, and experience His presence at another level!…
How comfortable is sin with me? (by Lisa)
How comfortable is sin with me? Last Sunday, we heard about the story of Cain and Abel in a different light. We realized that the problem was not what he offered to God but rather his heart’s condition before offering his sacrifice. God warned him when his sacrifice was rejected that sin was crouching at his doorway: sin was crouching at the door of his heart because sin was made to feel comfortable there. That really stuck with me. Cain’s action…
Let your heart be pleasing to God (by Zach)
Let your heart be pleasing to God This week’s sermon, Looking at the Condition of Our Hearts, talked about the story of Abel and Cain. Pastor Vickylextar explained the reason why God approved or rejected their offerings and how He values our hearts. Indeed, Yahweh accepted Abel’s offering because of his sincere heart and rejected Cain’s offering because of what he entertained in his heart (e.g., selfishness, jealousy, bitterness). The latter was exemplified clearly in Cain’s response to his being…
