High Price of Pride

High Price of Pride

the high price of pride

Last week Pastor Mercy shared a message on “The High Price of Pride.”  She dared us to examine ourselves and allow God to show us where pride had set in. It made me think.

Had pride been operating in my own life? The truthful answer was YES. In my case, I realized it was presented as self-doubt, false humility, and self-criticism. The harsh reality was: that pride had set in and disguised itself as humility.

What are some examples of pride?

I used to think pride was arrogance, but I learned it came in many forms (criticism, perfectionism, defensiveness, and low-esteem).

pride comes in many forms

I was tempted to go into self-pity and condemnation, but we were also taught to think sober-mindedly with a grateful attitude.

For by the grace given me, I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.’ – Romans 12:3

Instead of dwelling in pity-Ville, I chose to look at myself the way God saw me with gratefulness.
Why? Because I know as I continue to open my heart to God, he will reveal the hidden things to redeem me into the best version of myself for His glory.
