A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to share a message with the Crosspointe family regarding some lessons I learned since I joined the ministry. This blog post shares six lessons and my journey to ”Learning the Truth”.

In Matthew Chapter 23, Yeshua is warning against hypocrisy. This chapter helped enlighten me on how sometimes we may think we are living in truth, but we are actually so far from it.

1. Integrity (Matthew 23:1-4) Christ expects us to live in integrity in speech and practice. The Word is only living and active when we apply it.

2. Genuineness (Matthew 23:5-7) We should not live in superficiality. Everything we do is not for people to see. I had to learn that what really matters is my heart. When my heart is in the right place, everything else will follow.  Matthew 6:33 says: ”But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

3. Humility (Matthew 23:8-11) Our goal as believers is to exalt Christ, not ourselves. As James 4:6 says, “But He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.”

4. Compassion (Matthew 23:13-15) In this passage, Yeshua talks about religious leaders who go through so much to win a soul. Once they are won, they are also brainwashed into false doctrine. As leaders, we have a responsibility to teach the authentic word of God.

5. Drop Legalism (Matthew 23:16-22) Yeshua, in this passage, talks about “ridiculous hairsplitting.” He reminds us that it’s not about the show we throw but our hearts.

6. The inside is what matters (Matthew 23:23-28) ”So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” This verse is an important reminder that what’s on the inside is what matters and makes a difference.

In conclusion, I am grateful to have learned these 6 lessons that have been my journey of learning the truth. Last Sunday, Pastor reminded us that everyday is a day worth celebrating Christ’s truth and the incredible victory He accomplished for us.

Humbling Myself – Why is it important? https://mycrosspointe.org/humbling-myself-why-is-is-important/ https://mycrosspointe.org/humbling-myself-why-is-is-important/#respond Wed, 06 Oct 2021 14:16:56 +0000 https://mycrosspointe.org/?p=11955 Humbling Myself – Why it is important to humble ourselves?

Pastor Vickylextar gave us another message that hit home – they all do but some more closely than others. She clearly said that her messages aren’t targeting one or two persons but all of us.

The scripture she gave us (1 Peter 5mentions both young and old, so that covers pretty much everyone who attended the service and reads the bible! This scripture teaches a strong behaviour lesson by saying that God is opposed to the proud, the disdainful, the presumptuous and defeats them. I might use other adjectives such as “know it all”, independent, or false humility (I’m not good enough) but it’s all the same and God will oppose that as well.

Humble yourself - be grateful for all that God did and does
Humble yourself – be grateful

Humbling ourselves is a good thing!

God wants me to help others in a humble way with an open heart and with enthusiasm.  I must admit that I sometimes find it hard to do, more specifically when I’m dealing with a family member who knows my hot buttons and I react in a prideful way, that’s a sign that the enemy is roaming around trying to lure me away, but I must reposition myself immediately.  Humbling myself makes me more generous and in a stronger position to help others.  Another trap which I need to recognize quickly is when I need help and I don’t ask for it, quite often it’s because pride did set in and again this is a trap I need to avoid.  Another point that is so important to recognize so I can better humble myself is to be grateful for all I have, friends, family, love and most importantly love from God.  Being grateful certainly humble ourselves!

I still have work to do on humbling myself, because pride pops up very quickly even when I think that it’s not pride that’s why it’s important for me to keep a clear mind and be on the lookout and always ask God to show me these prideful traps.
